Concept design

Introduction

Triptiek is a three-week program where all three disciples (branding, management, and design) from AMFI join together to create a brand and present their collection via a fashion show. This project was brought to life by 20 students. I was part of the 3D stand team and concept team. During this program, a Business plan, Brand book, Look book, 3D stand, and a mini-collection were made.

With this project, I want to show how my study at AMFI relates to UX/UI Design

Technical drawings

Technical drawings were made by the design and management disciplines using Illustrator. Technical drawings can be seen as the equivalent of wireframes during a UX/UI design process. They indicate how the product (in this case the garment) will look like with only the essential information.

Brand book

To create a coherent collection the brand concept needed to be clear. This contains similar information as a Style guide when working on a UX/UI project. The target group, tone of voice, color palette, brand logo, and typography are all explained in this book. This allows the designers to draw inspiration, and be creative but within the brand’s guidelines.

3D stand

During Triptiek I volunteered to be part of the 3D stand team. I wanted to be able to bring the concept ideas that I worked on with another team to life. As the designers were responsible for the actual garment design, I saw an opportunity to bring the concept to life through the 3D stand. We drew inspiration from our muse and brand color palette. Next to this, we had to do research on 3D stands and the technical part of actually building one and making it safe. This was one of my favorite parts as it gave me a taste of what it entails to actually come up with a concept, translate this into an idea, and eventually build the actual product.
